Analytical equations for the frictional moment of an air bearing are developed on the basis of Ausman's pressure distribution equation. It transpires that the lower the mean pressure Po is, the smaller eccentricity is, the higher the revolution of the spindle is and the smaller the clearance of a bearing is, the greater the friction of an air bearing is.The frictional moment of air bearing is measured by the inclination angles of the bearing housing in high speed. Fricttions thus measured are fairly consistent with theoretical values.Read More
