Title: Evaluation of some promising insecticides against mustard aphid, Lipaphis erysimi Kalt. on cabbage under field condition
Abstract: Five insecticides viz., betacyfluthrin, lambdacyhalothrin, endosulfan and cartap hydrochloride were evaluated against mustard aphid, Lipaphis erysimi Kalt. on cabbage. All gave significant protection against aphid over the control. However, thiamethoxam was most effective. The population reduction over control due to thiamethoxam was 72.88 per cent after 1 day of spray which increased to 96.82, 97.44, 99.86 and 99.72 per cent after 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th day of spray, respectively. Hence, the plots treated with thiamethoxam did not require any further spray to protect the crop. The population reduction of L. erysimi over control due to betacyfluthrin, lambdacyhalothrin, endosulfan and cartap hydrochloride after seven days of spray was 75.32, 90.06, 88.80 and 92.29 per cent in first spray while it was 72.14, 74.70, 82.56 and 87.64 per cent in case of second spray, respectively.
