Title: Residues of Monocrotophos in/on Okra Hibiscus Esculentus)*
Abstract: Investigations were carried out to study the residues of monocrotophos in/on okra leaves and fruits. Three concentrations of monocrotophos viz., 0.03, 0.05 and 0.07 per cent a.i. were selected for foliar application. The average residues of monocrotophos in/on okra leaves at 3 days after different number of applications ranged between 20.78 to 56.76 ppm. The residues were not detected in the fruits set after one and two sprays before fruiting. The average residues resulting from different applications of monocrotophos before/after fruiting ranged from 1.04 to 1.30 ppm at 3 days interval, while the average residues in the fruits set after different number of applications of insecticide ranged between 0.40 to 0.78 ppm at 5 days interval. Half-life values and withholding period for 0.05 and 0.07 per cent monocrotophos varied from 2.24 to 3.49 and 11.01 to 15.91 days respectively. The per cent reduction of monocrotophos residues in fruits on washing with water varied between 00.00 to 67.34 per cent.
