Abstract: Residue studies of lindane using 0.1 and 0.2 per cent emulsion at the rate of 1500 1/ha (1.5 and 3.0 kg a. i./ha) bhindi crop was undertaken at IARI, New Delhi during the year 1977. An inititial deposits on leaves were found to be 12.73 and 21.48 ppm and on fruits 5.64 and 6.78 ppm for the lower and higher dosages, respectively. Insecticide reached to non detectable level after 21 days in case of leaves and 10 days in fruits in either of the treatments. Waiting period of 6 to 8 and more or less 3 days was sufficient to use leaves and fruits, respectively after the spray of insecticide. The home processes like water washing and cooking rendered the fruits for safe consumption on the same day in case of first concentration and three days for washing and just one day for cooking were sufficient for the second concentration.
