Title: Double-peak-double-wavelength spectrophotometric determination of KIO3 with IO3--I--rhodamine 6G system.
Abstract: It was found that in the H2SO4 medium, potassium iodate reacts with KI to give KIO3,which further reacts with Rhodamine 6G forming an ion-association complex which has the maximal absorbance at 495 nm.and 560 nm respectively.Under the optimum conditions for this reaction system, good linear relationship was found between the absorbance and concentration of KIO3.Based on these facts,a simple sensitive and accurate absorptiophotometric method for the determination of KIO3 was proposed and it has been satisfactorily applied to the analysis of table salt.
