Title: Art, Artists, and Arts Audiences: Their Implications for the Psychology of Creativity
Abstract: This article discusses the relevance of art, including artists and arts audiences, to the psychological study of creativity. To this end, the following topics and issues are covered: the reasons for psychology's interest in artistic creativity, scientific and other approaches, the thorny problem of definitions, the kinds of artistic creativity, the benefits of interdisciplinary study, and the salient facts. The article concludes with some directions for future research that expands the connections between the psychology of creativity and the arts.
