Title: Implementation of LMS Adaptive filter on Virtex-4 FPGA platform in VHDL
Abstract: The Active techniques are best suited for vibration
control in Aircraft/Aerospace structures where the size, weight, volume and cost are very crucial. The Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA), have emerged as the best platform in terms of performance with low power consumption and uses only small silicon area. FPGA also offers high-speed parallel processing architecture with Reconfigur ability. This work examines the feasibility of implementing adaptive LMS algorithm on high speed high Performance Compact Virtex-4 FPGA Board using VHDL with a design goal to develop single channel active vibration control system. LMS algorithm has been successfully implemented using synthesizable VHDL packages for number representation and arithmetic processing on Xilinx Virtex-4 (XC4VSX5S) FPGA processor in Xilinx-ISE-12.4V.
