Title: Response of Lentil (Lens culinaris) to Date of Sowing and Weed Control
Abstract: Date of sowing had a profound effect on weed population, weed dry matter, yield and yield components which declined with the delay of sowing dates. Delay in sowing from 23 October to 7 December reduced the seed yield by 48 and 50% during 1992–93 and 1993–94, respectively. The rate of decline in seed yield for every one day delay in sowing was 20.16 ± 4.4 kg/ha. The rate of reduction in grain yield due to weeds increased due to delay in sowing. Application of fluchloralin at 0.5 kg/ha + hand weeding at 30 days after sowing (DAS) proved most effective.
