Title: Influence of sowing dates and irrigations on growth and yield of chickpea.
Abstract: A field experiment was conducted during rabi 2004 and 2005 to study the influence of dates of sowing and irrigation on chickpea. During the both years of study, dates of sowing did not bring any significant influence with respect to seed yield of chickpea. However, as regards the effect of irrigations, during first year, one irrigation at 35 DAS (Pre-flowering) and two irrigations at 35 and 55 DAS (Pod development) significantly increased the seed yield of chickpea over no irrigation whereas during second year of experimentation one irrigation at 35 DAS recorded significantly maximum seed yield of chickpea (2057 kg/ha) than control (1797 kg/ha) but was comparable with two irrigations at 35 and 55 DAS.
