Title: Specialized Services Expand Mobility to Communities
Abstract: This article describes two services made available by Denver's Regional Transportation District (RTD), which serves eight counties. One service, called Access-a-Ride, allows disabled passengers to reserve a ride to and from any location in the RTD district. The second service, Call-n-Ride, supplements existing RTD service and is aimed at school children and others who live in areas of low ridership. This curb-to-curb service operates 39 vehicles including small buses; unlike the Access-a-Ride service, the vehicles only transport within the boundaries of its service area. The article describes eligibility requirements for users, as well as funding for the programs.
