Title: A Double-Antibody Radioimmunoassay Procedure for Ovine Pituitary Prolactin
Abstract: A radioimmunoassay for measuring ovine pituitary prolactin using the double antibody system is reported. Sensitivity range of the method is from 0 to 64 μg/ml. The ovine prolactin antiserum used in this study showed cross-reaction with bovine prolactin but not against human preparation. Preliminary measurement of serum prolactin levels in nonpregnant, pregnant and post-pregnant sheep is also reported, indicating a gradual decline in prolactin level during pregnancy and a sharp rise post partum and during lactation.
