Title: Sharing and comparing award‐winning picture books of English‐language nations
Abstract: Presentation to children of stories from other countries can spur interest in the people, culture, and language of different areas. This paper reports on genre comparisons (folklore, modern fantasy, nonfiction, realistic fiction, biography, poetry) in awardwinning picture books from the four large English‐speaking nations of Australia, Canada, Great Britain and the United States. These award‐winning books were found to be overwhelmingly from the genres of folklore and modern fantasy.
