Abstract: Sprachliche Vielfalt ist ein wesentliches Merkmal der Europäischen Union, ihres kulturellen Erbes und ihrer Identität.Das Motto von der Mehrsprachigkeit als Trumpfkarte ist in aller Munde und das Beherrschen von mindestens drei Sprachen (Muttersprache plus zwei Fremdsprachen) ein auf EU-Ebene anerkanntes Ziel für alle Bürger (Moraldo 2008a).Dies stellt die zuständigen Stellen (nicht nur) der europäischen Bildungspolitik immer wieder vor neue Herausforderungen.So haben neuerdings EU-Projekte zur Förderung des fremdsprachigen Sachfachunterrichts, besser bekannt unter dem Akronym CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning), Unterrichtskonzepte für innovative und kreative Wege in die Mehrsprachigkeit erarbeitet, die das Bewusstsein für den Wert der Sprachenvielfalt und die von dieser Vielfalt ausgehenden Chancen schärfen sollen.Integriertes Sprachen-und Fachlernen nimmt in der gegenwärtigen Diskussion über eine zeit-und zielgerechte Entwicklung schulisch-institutioneller Sprach-und Bildungsangebote eine überaus zentrale Rolle ein.Dies ist die eine Seite der Medaille.Die andere betrifft Mehrsprachigkeit u. a. von Bilingualen, die schon in der Primärsozialisation mit zwei
