Notes 1Each scale is shown in the hypothesized model (Figure 2) as measured variables and depicted with rectangles. 2Although agenda building is identified as a latent construct in the model, given the seemingly disparate nature of the issues used as indicators, a reliability assessment was conducted to examine the association between the four observed indicators and the unobserved agenda building construct. The mean for the four-item agenda-building scale was 35.97 (SD = 7.40, α = .77), thus supporting its application as an overall construct. 3Although attitude toward industry is identified as a latent construct in the model, a reliability assessment was conducted to examine the association between the three observed and the unobserved attitude toward industry construct because pretesting was not conducted. The mean for the three-item attitude scale was 5.00 (SD = 1.19, α = .81), thus supporting its application as an overall construct. 4The error variance was obtained by subtracting the reliability from 1 and multiplying the product by the variable's variance according to the following equation: (1 – r xx)s2. For campaign awareness scale, Cronbach's alpha was .8458, and the variance was 71.044. Therefore, the error variance was found as follows: (1 − .8458) × 71.044 = 10.95 error variance. For environmental concern scale, Cronbach's alpha was .7351, and the variance was 25.929. Therefore, the error variance was found as follows: (1 − .7351) × 25.929 = 6.4 error variance. ∗∗∗p < .001.
