Abstract: The case are presented of two siblings who died of respiratory failure associated with dystrophic changes in the diaphragm, and, in one case, also in the pectoral muscle. The changes were those of a primary myopathy, and not essentially different from those seen in more typical cases of progressive muscular dystrophy. Difficulties in histologic diagnosis are mentioned and the value of biopsy of the muscle stressed.
