Title: SOME CORRELATES OF PARENTAL IMITATION IN YOUNG CHILDREN1
Abstract: The purposes of this study were as follows: (a) to develop a measure of preschool children's tendencies to imitate the like-sex parent in preference to the opposite-sex parent and (b) to explore certain correlates of these tendencies. The hypotheses upon which this research is based spring from what is generally known as theory. It should be pointed out, however, that a behavioral concept of identification is employed here rather than a motivational concept; hence, the particular operations are called imitation.
