Title: CLEANING UP MOTOR CAR POLLUTION. NEW FUELS AND TECHNOLOGY
Abstract: This report examines the worldwide problems of pollution caused by motor vehicles and considers the effects of exhaust control by new technology on the vehicles by improvements to traditional fuels, or by the development of alternative fuels. It also considers the need for collaboration between motor manufacturers, oil companies, governments and consumers, in order to achieve cost effective results. Seven chapters, supported by statistical tables, cover the potential of various fuels, including gasoline, diesel, methane, methanol and methyl-tertiary-butyl-ether (MTBE), ethanol and other biofuels, electric vehicles and hybrid, flexible fuel vehicles.
