Title: Die Absage an das Romantische Ich: Dorothea Schlegels Florentin als Umschrift von Friedrich Schlegels Lucinde
Abstract: Die Zuordnung von Dorothea Schlegels Florentin stellt bis heute ein Problem dar. Zwar wird die Autorin der Frühromantik zugeordnet, Florentin wird jedoch selten als romantischer Roman aufgefasst, sondern in die Nähe Goethes oder sogar der Aufklärung gerückt. Diese Arbeit möchte Florentin dezidiert der Frühromantik zuordnen und nachweisen, dass sich der Roman frühromantischer Mittel bedient, um Widersprüche in der frühromantischen Konzeption von Subjektivität und Weiblichkeit aufzudecken. Dies geschieht im Rahmen einer Umschrift von Friedrich Schlegels Lucinde. In Lucinde konstituiert sich das männliche Dichter-Subjekt, indem es sich die generativen Kräfte der Frau zum Zweck einer dichterischen Empfängnis aneignet und sich des weiblichen Körpers als Stoff für den Roman bedient. Die intertextuelle Studie weist nach, dass Florentin genau dieses Muster verfremdet und demontiert. Zweck dieser Demontage ist es, das romantische Dichter-Subjekt als Komplizen an einer die Frau bevormundenden Gesellschaftsordnung auszuweisen und, mittels einer subversiven Umdeutung der romantischen Ironie, die romantische Sprache zu entmythisieren und aufzuzeigen, dass ihre Funktion darin besteht, die der Beziehung von Frau und Mann zugrundeliegenden Macht- und Gewaltstrukturen zu verschleiern und zu verklären. Dorothea Schlegel übt damit eine scharfe Sozialkritik und nimmt gleichzeitig das in Lucinde entworfene ästhetische Programm Schritt für Schritt zurück.
