Title: Smartphone-Controlled Robot Snake for Urban Search and Rescue
Abstract: Search and rescue robots would benefit from versatile locomotion ability and hence cope with varying environments. Robot snakes, with hyper-redundant body and unique gaits, offer a promising solution to search and rescue applications. This paper presents a portable design of robot snakes that can be controlled from commercial mobile devices like the smartphones. The control results are validated and demonstrated using hardware prototypes.
