Title: Rate options for conservation, load management and marketing
Abstract: The conservation programs introduced during the years when energy was short were so successful that efforts continue. Utilities that ignore the customers desire to reduce energy expenses are not following good marketing practices. Both load management and conservation can defer new construction. The two forms of conservation involve changing patterns of energy use (behavior modification) and physical changes (structural modifications) to improve efficiency ratings. Pacific Gas and Electric works with manufacturers and customers to this end. Utilities, themselves, conserve by designing appropriate rate structures and using their resources as efficiently as possible.
