Abstract: Although specific recommendations are difficult to make about spacecraft and missions not yet designed, several general guidelines are presently formulated concerning the training of future, long-duration space mission crews. Training systems should be embedded in the normal controls and displays of the spacecraft used, so that critical maneuvers can be practiced as often as possible. Some system for computer-based training should be available onboard, in order to maintain the spacecraft system-knowledge of the crew at a high level and deepen understanding of malfunction responses.
