Title: Learning with technology: An assessment of learning design and knowledge construction online
Abstract: The Centre for Academic Technologies at the university implemented a framework for teaching and learning contributing to the ideals of the university teaching and learning strategy. The purpose of this framework was to not only explain the importance of authentic learning, tool mediation and collaboration but to also provide a framework grounded in theory to address complex educational problems in real life. A subjective evaluation of 2013 Blackboard modules explored how Faculties within the university were addressing learning and technology. Two perspectives were used in the evaluation: learning from technology (information consumption) and learning with technology (knowledge production). The instrument was created as a Google form. Modules were scrutinized and data were collated in an MSExcel spreadsheet and analyzed. Findings illustrate a simple heuristic to explore notions of learning to be and provide a framework to support future development in the field of learning design
