Title: Density correction of gamma-ray detection efficiency in environmental samples
Abstract: A procedure is presented to account for the variation of sample densities in gamma-ray spectrometry measurements. A total of 10 different gamma-ray calibration standards with a range of densities between 0.36 g/cm{sup 3} to 2.47 g/cm{sup 3} were prepared. Six available hyperpure germanium detectors were calibrated using each of these standards. The efficiency calibration data were fitted in the gamma-ray computation software through a custom-made sub-menu developed in the laboratory.
