Title: Uigurisches Wörterbuch. Sprachmaterial der vorislamischen türkischen Texte aus Zentralasien
Abstract: Das Uigurische Wörterbuch erfasst den Wortschatz der Literatur der ersten türksprachigen Hochkultur. Unter den spektakulären Funden, die in den Oasenstädten Xinjiangs im Nordwesten Chinas gemacht wurden, sind die uigurischen Handschriften und Blockdrucke (9.–14. Jahrhundert) von besonderer Bedeutung. Die Texte zeigen einerseits eine beeindruckende thematische und gattungsgeschichtliche Vielfalt (Erzählungen, Lehrtexte, Lobpreisdichtungen, Astrologisches, Kalendarisches, Texte zur Mantik, Urkunden, Briefe, Bilinguen usw.) und sind andererseits durch die drei einflussreichen Religionen der Seidenstraße – Buddhismus, Manichäismus und Christentum – geprägt. Das Uigurische Wörterbuch, das seit 1977 erscheint, wertet alle diese Quellen aus. Seit 2017 wird das Wörterbuch als Forschungsprojekt der Niedersächsischen Akademie der Wissenschaften zu Göttingen weitergeführt. Mit dieser Lieferung wird die Erschließung der "Fremdelemente" (Lehn- und Fremdwörter aus den Kontaktsprachen des Uigurischen) mit den Lemmata bodivan bis čigžin fortgesetzt. Enthalten sind besonders bedeutsame religiöse Termini wie burhan ('Buddha'), buyan ('religiöses Verdienst') und č(a)hšap(a)t (,Gebot, Sittlichkeit').
