Abstract: Cylinderlinsen sagen, hierauf die in Rede stehenden Phanomene beschreiben und in einem dritten Abs~hniRe die Analyse derselben geben.A. Die Cylinderlinsen.Cylinderlinsen nennt man gemeinhin Linsen~ yon deren zwei optisch wirksamen Begrenzungsflachen mindestens die eine cylindrisch gekriimmt is~, w~hrend die andere plan, cylindriseh oder aueh spharisch sein kann.Die am meisten gebrauehlichen (einfaehe Cylinderlinsen) stellen AbschniRe eines Glascyliaders dar, die parallel zur Aehse geftihR sind --demgemass ist die eine Fl~ohe eben, die andere oylindrisoh.Da bei diesen Planeylinderlinsen so wie aaoh bei allen anderen die cylindrische Plache convex und auch concav sein kann, so ergeben sioh als Itaupt-Unterabtheihmgen; Convex-und Concaveylinderlinsen.Als Linsenaxe (optische ttauptaxe) ist, diejenige Linie anzusehen, welehe auf beiden Begrenzungsfl~chen senkrecht steh~.Bei den einfachen Cytindertinsen entspreehen dieser Definition alle (nntereinander parallelen) Cylinder-Radien, welche in dem ,axialen Haup~sehnitte" liegen.Axe schlechtweg heisst die Riehtung parallel der Cylindemxe (oder auch erzeugenden Linie); eigentlieh ist dies nur ein knrzer Ausdruek ft~r die die Cytinderaxe und Linsenaxe enthaltene Ebene ~ den axialen Haupt-
