Title: Effect of Growth Retardants on Plant Growth Flower Yield and Quality Gerbera (Gerbera jamesonii) cv. Lanceolot
Abstract: The present experiment was conducted at Research Farm, Department of Horticulture, School of Agriculture, Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture Technology and Science (Deemed to be university), Allahabad, during the year 2011–2012. The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Block Design having nine treatment with three replication. The treatment comprised of four different concentration of MH (250,500,750,1000 ppm) and CCC (250,500,750,1000 ppm) sprayed at 30, 45 and 60 days after transplanting and control (water spray). The result revealed that CCC 750 ppm was found most effective for obtaining maximum plant spread (42.50), minimum plant height (26.33 cm), minimum number of Suckers (4.00), minimum number of days (50.00) for flower bud initiation, maximum flower diameter (8.25 cm), minimum stalk length (33.83cm), maximum number of days (20.67) for gerbera, Longevity of flower, maximum number of flower (10.17), flowers per plot (40.67) and number of cutflower per hectare (6.35 lakh). MH 1000 ppm was found for maximum number of leaves.
