Ridership is a critical operating issue, and increase in the level of ridership is a necessary, yet long-term effort. The traveling public needs to know that the service is predictable, safe, and reliable and that it is easy to reach a station and park. The mechanism proposed in this project is the improvement of the visibility of Amtrak as an integral link to the intermodal transportation network, particularly through the development of enhanced ingress signage. Within the context of this effort, this project will initially key on the improvements of access to 16 key stations to maximize the benefit of the signage program related to the new high-speed service with limited expenditure of capital funds. The 16 stations are as follows: Union Station, Washington, D.C.; New Carrollton, Maryland; BWI, Maryland; Baltimore, Maryland; Wilmington, Delaware; 30th Street Station, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Trenton, New Jersey; Metropark, New Jersey; Penn Station, Newark, New Jersey; Penn Station, New York, New York; Stamford, Connecticut; New Haven, Connecticut; New London, Connecticut; Providence, Rhode Island; Route 128 Station, Massachusetts; and South Station, Boston, Massachusetts.Read More
