Abstract: Summary Direct visualization of the gastric antrum is ordinarily available only to thegastroscopist, but knowledge of the form and type of movement of this region is of interest to all phyicians as a part of basic physiology. Photographs taken of the gastric antrum and pylorus are presented to show variations in physical aspects, forms and mechanisms by which peristalsis takes place.
