Title: Notes on the genus Eotetranychus in China with descriptions of four new species (Acarina: Tetranychidae).
Abstract: This paper reports sixteen species of Eotetranychus collected in China. Among them, four species are described as new and six are recorded for the first time from China. Key to Chinese species of Eotetranychus is given. The six new records are: E. geniculatm Ehara, E. populi (Koch), E. kankcitus Ehara, E. hicoriae (McGregor), E. suginamensis (Yokoyama), E. smithi Pritehard et Baker. Types of the four new species are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Academia Sinica.1. Eotetranychus bailae sp. nov. (Pigs. 1-11)Aedeagus of this new species is much alike to that of E. boreus Ehara, hut its terminal part shorter and thicker. Female differs from E. boreus by possessing 6 (or 5) tactile setae on tibia Ⅱ and possessing 2 tactile setae and 1 sensory seta proximal to the duplex setae on tarsus I.Holotype: ♂, Beijing, 27. V. 1976. on Fraxinus chinensis. Allotype.♀ and Para-types : 4 ♂♂, 44 ♀♀ , data same as the holotype.2. Eotetranychus spinifer sp. nov. (Figs. 12-22)This new species resembles E. talisiae (Hirst) and E. queenslandicus Manson in the female empodium possessing a small dorsal spur; but different in the shape of male aedeagus.Holotype: ♂, Guilin, Guangxi Province, 26. X. 1973. on Pterocarya stenopteru,. Allotype ♀ and Paratypes: 1 ♂, 12 ♀♀, data same as the holotype.3. Eotetranychus qinlingensis sp. nov. (Figs. 23-32)This new species differs from all other known species of Eotetranychus in the shape of aedeagus.Holotype: cf, Qinling, Shanxi Province. 1. Ⅶ. 1976. on Gramineae. Allotype: ♀ and Paratypes: 1 ♂, 6 ♀♀, data same as the holotype.4. Eotetranychus broussonetiae sp. nov. (Figs. 33-41)This new species resembles E. savanae Gutierrez in the shape of aedeagus; but neck of its aedeagus is shorter and the anterior angulation of the terminal knob is conspicuous. Female differs from E. savanae in the setation of tarsus I.Holotype: ♂, Ganzhou, Jiangxi Province, 31. V. 1975, on Broussonetia papyrifera,. Allotype: ♀, Guilin, Guangxi Province, 23. X. 1973, host same as the holotype. Paratypes : 2 ♂♂, 11 ♀♀, Guangxi Province, 23. X. 1973; 2 ♂♂, 5 ♀♀, Guangxi Province, 8. V. 1974; 3 ♂♂, 17 ♀♀, Yantai, Shandong Province, 3. IX. 1974; 7♂♂, 28♀♀, Jiangxi Province, 31. V. 1975, all of them on Broussonetia papyrifera.
