Title: The echobiometric measurement of the extraocular muscles in normal subjects
Abstract: There is a need for a more detailed study of the thickness of extraocular muscles which is fundamental in the diagnosis of many orbital diseases. Often the limit noticed with echography between physiological and pathological value of the muscle thickness is almost indefinite. For some time we have used for comparison the McNutt and Ossoinig tables which report percentile values obtained by a case report of 100 cases. After having examined, in preliminary work, the results obtained from 100 normal eyes, we proceeded to carry out a wider study (c400 cases) taking into account further factors such as: sex, weight, height, use of convergence, which could ultimately influence the distribution of the related values. This report presents the results of our study.
