Title: Material Adherence in Cold Welding by Cold Forging
Abstract: Although it is difficult to weld steel by cold pressure welding, cold forging can be utilized to weld steel and aluminum in the cold state. In order to increase the formability of the workpiece material a softening heat treatment of steel is commonly applied prior to cold forging. This issue opens the question whether these heat treatments are affecting the bond formation. Thus, the effect of different heat treatments of steel on the bond formation at the billets’ interface is investigated.
