Title: Electroless Coating Techniques in Electronics
Abstract: AbstractElectroless deposited coatings are coming into prominence chiefly due to ease of their fabrication, unique magnetic and electronic properties as well as low costs. The present paper surveys the fundamentals and applications of these coatings in various segments of electronics industry viz. printed circuits, thin film magnetic devices, electromagnetic interference shieldings, microwave integrated circuits, semiconductor devices and other components. To enable fabrication of different coatings, the latest available both specifications are given. The present pattern of consumption of these coatings indicates a growth rate of 10–15% for this coating technology. It is concluded that a greater interaction between electronic engineers and platers could result in further uses of electroless coated components in electronics.Indexing terms: Electroless coatingselectroless techniques
