Abstract: As approaches, then, to ensuring economic growth, the state and the market constitute the most important poverty alleviation measures. This chapter is about economic beliefs among students who are not necessarily professional economists themselves. It explores the attitudes towards the concepts associated with economic policy or phenomena. Therefore central to this chapter is the question what are the attitudes towards poverty alleviation measures? The chapter proceeds with a discussion on economic growth and poverty alleviation. It, then, offers a theoretical exposition of the concepts of poverty alleviation measures. Next, it discusses how the concepts of poverty alleviation measures operate. The chapter presents the major empirical findings of the attitudes towards poverty alleviation measures. It also discusses the social location of the attitudes towards poverty alleviation measures.
