Title: From the "Eclipse" to the "Art" of Biblical Narrative: Reflections on Methods of Biblical Exegesis
Abstract: The movement from the world of biblical narrative to the world of truth claims resulted in the eclipse of biblical narrative. The author addresses a number of choices made and questions asked about method in exegetical work. He proposes a model for giving a significant order to the application of various approaches or methods. The author concentrates on some textual details to test the proposed order in methods and makes some conclusive statements about methods. This chapter do not attempt to present all kinds of methods used for biblical interpretation, even less to argue which one would be the best. The author invents some major disagreements in the area of biblical interpretation. With respect to the Old Testament exegesis it implies an approach of avoiding filters : to concentrate on procedures, the writing and reading skills; to avoid concepts about individual writers, old institutions and offices and overall theological concepts. Keywords: biblical exegesis methods; biblical interpretation; biblical narrative art; biblical narrative eclipse; Old Testament exegesis; theological concepts
