Abstract: The city of Troy, Michigan was able to cut its fleet maintenance costs by using a one-stop service agreement, as well as time-saving devices, as detailed in this article. Tire inspections are part of the vehicles' preventive maintenance service, and a Wheel-Check device is now used to check torque and indicate potential tire failure. A single state-approved provider is used for the fleet's remaining service needs. Further guidance can be found in the American Trucking Association's Technology and Maintenance Council (TMC) Recommended Practices Manual, which covers all aspects of vehicle maintenance, not just tires.
