Title: Effects and aftereffects of gamma and electron radiation on potatoes
Abstract: Impairment of physiological and biochemical processes, inhibition of growth and development, and decreased productivity of plants are observed after exposure of seeds, seedlings and plants to high levels of ionizing radiation. It was established that the biological effect of ionizing radiation depends on the type, dosage, and dose rate of radiation, and the physiological condition of the plant at the time of exposure. At the same time, some works have reported the prolonged retention of postradiation effects. The effects of inhibitory doses of ..gamma..- and electron radiation were investigated. The radiosensitivity of different parts of tubers was determined. Plant harvest was used as the criterion of biological effects of ionizing radiations.
