Abstract: This chapter discusses list of Cayman Island butterflies such as Ithomiidae, Satyridae, Nymphalidae, Pieridae, Papilionidae, and Hesperiidae. Ithomiidae is an almost exclusively South American family, but two species fly in the Greater Antilles. They are weak-flying, shade-loving insects, reluctant to leave the woods and forests in which they breed. The family Satyridae, often considered as a subfamily of Nymphalidae, is well represented in temperate regions, but in the West Indies the only genus is Calisto. The Palaearctic species was introduced into the Nearctic region in the nineteenth century, and has successfully colonized most of Canada and the United States. H. machaonides is the commonest Swallowtail on Hispaniola, but is apparently confined to that island. Tropical Chequered Skipper is one of the dominant butterflies in Cuba and the Isle of Pines, abundant in gardens, roadsides and open situations generally. Keywords: Cayman butterflies; Hesperiidae; Ithomiidae; Nymphalidae; Papilionidae; Pieridae; Satyridae
