Title: DEVELOPMENT OF TWO-STAGE TURBOCHARGING SYSTEM ON A FOUR STROKE MEDIUM SPEED DIESEL ENGINE
Abstract: For more effective utilization of exhaust gas energy in an attempt to increase in ratings of engines with greater volume of supercharged air, the introduction of the two-stage turbocharging system is considered. The results of various tests conducted for the introduction of the two-stage turbocharging system to the four-stroke medium speed Pielstick PC diesel engine proved satisfactory. On the basis of these test results, production of PC type diesel engines equipped with two-stage turbochargers has been initiated. The test results for determining specifications for two-stage turbocharged diesel engines, and general performance of the engine are described.
