Title: The Bridger Gap Burial from Southwestern Wyoming
Abstract: A Protohistoric burial situated in a sandstone rock crevice in southwestern Wyoming produced skeletal remains of an old-aged female American Indian of unknown tribal affinities. Both osteological and cultural interpretations were possible from the previously undisturbed grave and its contents. The Protohistoric age is suggested by a Carbo-14 date obtained from burial materials and is also consistent with the preserved perishable material recovered. An interesting pathological feature indicates trauma to the distal right tibia and fibula with double fracture and displacement, medial angulation and subsequent ankylosis.
