Abstract: The main objective of this study is to determine the feasibility of producing electricity from solar energy in Thailand through steam generation using a heliostat, a receiver, and a thermal storage subsystem. The scope of the study covers steam generation from solar thermal energy but does not include site selection or the generation of electricity from the steam. The study included technical considerations, subsystems preliminary design, research experimental design, experimental results, economic study, and conclusions and discussion. Computer simulation is involved, and the results indicate that the simulation models are valid. Hence, design by simulation model is valid. The conclusion is that a solar thermal power plant of 100 KW sub th is technically feasible for Thailand, but not yet economically feasible.
