Completed in 1992, the Joint Study used Year 2015 projected peak hour operations as the basis for alternatives analyses in every freeway corridor throughout the Dallas urban area. HOV lanes are among the alternatives studied, and a methodology was developed by TTI for estimation of HOV ridership resulting from varying the numbers of freeway mainlanes and the resultant congestion delay. This paper presents the methodology developed by the Joint Study team, the results of the study, and conclusions which may be drawn from this approach to system planning.Read More
