Title: PLANNING TRANSPORTATION FACILITIES TO GUIDE URBAN DEVELOPMENT
Abstract: This paper emphasizes the need for the International Conference on Urban Transportation and the vital importance of proper planning for balanced transportation. It is mainly focused on a discussion of some alternative regional development patterns which can be guided by transportation planning. The key to the solution of transportation problems is proper planning. Unplanned or improperly panned suburban development should not guide the construction of transportation facilities. Rather, proper planning and the construction of good transportation routes should be programmed for use the major tools in guiding regional development.
