Title: TRANSPORTATION RESEARCH BOARD: CURRENT RESEARCH PROGRAM IN BRIDGES
Abstract: Applied research on a variety of bridge engineering problems is carried out in the United States under the national Cooperative Highway Research Program. This program has been successful in producing results used by practitioners. Major reasons for the program's success are its use of expert advisory panels and its close relationship with the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials. This paper describes the program, some current activities, and recent accomplishments in bridge research.
