Title: ANALYSIS OF ROLLOVER RESISTANT PERFORMANCE WITH AND WITHOUT SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER AT VEHICLE TRIP. IN: AUTOMOTIVE CRASH RESEARCH: SIDE IMPACT, ROLLOVER, AND VEHICLE AGGRESSIVITY
Abstract: This research was performed to add information available regarding rollover test protocols and occupant protection provided by seat belt systems in rollover crashes. Retractor pretensioners were activated in three of the eight tests to analyze their effects on seat belt performance. This paper presents the occupant protection provided to the anthropometric test devices (ATDs) by the restraint systems in the test series. The research testing was conducted to analyze dummy restraint performance in rollover crashes. In reviewing the date presented in this paper it is important to note that the pretensioners used were not designed for rollover applications nor have rollover sensors been developed for proper activation of pretensioners in rollover accidents,
