Technological applications certainly have a role in Pasadena’s parking program. Each of the applications already incorporated into the program particularly access and revenue control equipment, handheld citation processing equipment, and related software have proven to be effective in improving the overall performance of the program. However, incorporation of technology must be matched with a full maintenance plan to extend system life and considerable training of staff to take advantage of the specialized reporting functions that are available through the new technology. Only then will anticipated gains in productivity be realized. Pasadena will actively explore applications of technology to upgrade services, improve monitoring and enforcement and integrate parking management with the city’s new traffic management center, installing multispace meters, and addressing the competing needs of a thriving community for limited on-street parking resources.Read More
