Title: AUTOMATED METRO TO JOIN GROWING TRAM NETWORK
Abstract: This short article provides brief details of the metro light rail and main railway lines servicing Geneva. Special attention is given to the tram and metro services. Brief details are provided of: a) the alignments; b) the cost; and c) the three technological options being studied for the automated metro. These options are as follows: 1) Standard gauge, which would be compatible with the existing SBB and SNCF lines, but incompatible with tramways; 2) Metre gauge, which is compatible with the tramway networks; and 3) Fully automated mini metro. This would create a VAL-type network, incompatible with any other mode currently in use.
