Abstract: Abstract : The problem of establishing the effectiveness of an information system is considered. An effectiveness measure suggested by recent development in statistical decision theory is presented. Sample evaluations or system designs are used to illustrate here the adoption of such a measure which allows selecting the parameters of the system in a manner consistent with the user preference.
