Title: Commercial vehicle surveys on two interstate highways in Victoria
Abstract: Traffic on interstate highways represents the most concentrated and consistent flows of commercial vehicles. A knowledge of the characteristics and composition of this truck traffic is important in determining the effects of policy changes on the road transport industry. Survey data also provide important information for the design of pavements and structures and for the evaluation of investments in road infrastructure. This paper presents the results of surveys of truck traffic on two interstate highways in Victoria. The data on vehicles in the survey are analysed in various ways so that a comprehensive picture of the commercial vehicles surveyed is obtained.
