Abstract: The growing awareness among urban dwellers about environmental deterioration which mainly occurs from transportation sources demand careful consideration of the various policies in urban transportation planning for improving the environment. This paper presents an integrated approach implemented in a computer aided system for the practical application of comprehensive EIA in urban transportation planning. The Computer Aided Landuse Transport Environment Analysis System (CALTEAS) consists of a multi-level GIS based data base and three other major sub systems - Simulation, Evaluation and Map Display. Finally, the possibilities of practical application of the system in urban transportation planning are demonstrated through some examples. (Author/TRRL)
