Abstract: The paper describes an experimental and theoretical study of the performance of a vehicle radiator as part of the cooling system under the limiting conditions, ie. The interaction between water and air flow has shown an unequal distribution of air and water flow rates in sections of the radiator. A method is outlined to determine the minimum required flow rates of water. This should lead to an optimised design, thus reducing radiator mass, cost and minimising cooling fan power requirements.
